Game Recap: DeMatha 37, O’Connell 31

Screen shot 2014-10-15 at 9.46.29 AMIt took a full DeMatha effort to get the Stags their second win in the WCAC, locking up second place behind Good Counsel, last Saturday. DeMatha beat O’Connell in front of a hostile home crowd, and the win was one head coach Elijah Brooks could be proud of.

Screen shot 2014-10-15 at 9.45.59 AMInside DeMatha Football caught up with Coach Brooks to hear more about the game:

It was a good league win this Saturday against O’Connell. This time of the year we need to make enough plays to win and we did that. We didn’t have our best defensive performance but key interceptions by DJ Turner and Cole Williams were pivotal in the game. Shane Simmons led the way up front with a game high four sacks. Offensively the line paved the way for a 400-yard explosion. It was a balanced attack with nine different players touching the ball. We face a dangerous McNamara team Friday so we must prepare like champions this week! Go Stags!
