Just a junior, DeMatha offensive guard Terrance Davis has attracted scholarship offers from some of the best football teams in the country. At 6’4″ and 305 lbs with surprising speed and agility for his size, it’s no surprise college football coaches want Davis in their program. But DeMatha head coach Elijah Brooks says what Davis does in the classroom shows the kind of young man he truly is.
“Terrance has been a fantastic two-year starter for us. He’s extremely physical and agile for his size but it’s not just his athletic abilities that have many of the top programs in the country intrigued,” Brooks said. “His focus in the classroom definitely separates him from the pack. Terrance truly represents what it means to be a student-athlete.”
Davis comes into his junior year with a 3.4 GPA, and is a recipient of the DeMatha Academic Award. He is also rated as a four-star recruit, one of the best players in the state of Maryland and a Top 5 guard. Add it all up and the list of scholarship offers makes sense: Alabama, Florida State, Maryland, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Rutgers, Georgia and Illinois, just to name a few.
With the overwhelming success of Alabama and Florida State, not to mention recent DeMatha grads at both schools, it makes sense for Davis to be interested in heading south. It’s also worth noting that closer schools Maryland and Penn State have assigned their best recruiters to Davis, hoping to keep the big, young man closer to home.
