Week 2 Players of the Week

Any time the Stags register a win, head coach Elijah Brooks weighs in on the players that really stood out. While every player on the roster helped in the victory, after looking back at the film of the 21-12 over St. Mary’s Ryken, Brooks selected players from both sides of the ball that made the DeMatha win possible.

dematha_HS_0123DE Julius Combes – An outstanding job as a senior leader on the defensive line to shut down the Ryken run game. He finished the game with nine tackles.

SUN_0019-2014-2014RB Anthony McFarland – Broke off some incredible runs to finish the night with 253 yards, and it’s scary to think he had a 50 yard TD run called back.

He was perfect on extra point attempts against Ryken, which was key in a tight, low-scoring game. Making extra points is crucial in WCAC play, emphasized by Ryken’s two misses in the game.
