In four games this season wearing their Nike Anthracite Grey Speed Machine uniforms, the DeMatha Stags went undefeated and played some of their best football. The players developed a motto for the jerseys of “Win baby, win” anytime they played in their Nike Greys, and wore the uniforms in their 31-10 triumph against St. Johns in the WCAC Championship Game.
Whether the players knew it, the Speed Machine uniforms showed just how special the DeMatha program is to Nike as well. The Stags were one of just seven high school teams in the country with access to the uniforms, designed to be faster and lighter than other uniforms available at the high school level, and more similar to the kits worn on the college and professional level. Nike Football VP of Business Development Ralph Green explained:
DeMatha is a wonderful partner for us. The school has such great football tradition and Coach Elijah Brooks and staff share our passion for serving student athletes in every way possible.
Now everyone has a chance to be a part of DeMatha’s historic 2013 undefeated WCAC championship season by winning one of the exclusive Speed Machine uniforms by bidding on one of three No. 1 DeMatha jerseys. Proceeds of the auction will get put back into the football program. Bidding starts at $75 for the jerseys and can be submitted to email@example.com, please include full name, auction bid, phone number and mailing address. We will post updates throughout the week before concluding the auction Friday night.
