Way back in August, many predicted a strong season for DeMatha, but few could guess just how well it has gone. The Stags have locked up the No. 1 spot for the Washington Area Catholic Conference playoffs, but they still have one game left.
On Saturday, DeMatha travels to North Capitol Street to take on Archbishop Carroll, and the Lions will be ready and waiting to knock off the Stags. DeMatha Head Coach Elijah Brooks knows how hard his team has worked, especially to win all of their WCAC games, and needs his team to remain focused for the final regular season game.
This week we really want to finish strong against Archbishop Carroll. It’s been awhile since we have gone undefeated in the conference and that’s a goal we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season.
This hasn’t been the best season for Carroll, but the team has real talent, not to mention a long history of tough games against DeMatha. Coach Brooks is well aware of how dangerous the Lions can be.
We can’t afford to look past Carroll. Don’t be fooled by their record, they have a tough team with some dynamic playmakers. They usually play well at home, so we must focus on starting fast and put together a complete game heading to the playoffs.
A perfect WCAC season hangs in the balance Saturday afternoon. Coach Brooks and the Stags are ready to bring it home.
Check back next week for recruiting coverage from some of DeMatha’s best players as they take trips to ACC and SEC schools, and much more on the Carroll game, not to mention previews of the WCAC playoffs.
