Week 8 Game Preview: DeMatha vs. McNamara

DeMatha is off to one of the best starts in recent memory, but in the Washington Area Catholic Conference, there is no rest. This weekend the Stags face a tough Bishop McNamara squad that has a high-powered offense. DeMatha Head Coach Elijah Brooks knows the Mustangs are a threat to the Stags unblemished WCAC record.

9.19 DealThis is another important conference game. McNamara has had some success early in the year, and it is imperative that we contain their explosive offense and do a good job of taking care of the ball.

One of the biggest question marks for the Stags comes at quarterback. John Lovett will miss the game for DeMatha, and Lovett has played exceptionally all season. Brooks addressed his QB situation:

Lovett930The choice of starting quarterback will be a game time decision. We have several guys that we believe will be able to come in and do a great job.

Injuries are a part of football, but Brooks has the team focused on beating the Mustangs.

We hate to have any injuries, especially at the quarterback position, but we have other guys who are ready to step up and fill in. We have the utmost confidence in the team that they will pull everything together for Saturday.

McNamara started the season 5-0 before losing last week to Good Counsel. The Mustangs look like an up-and-comer in the WCAC, especially with new coach Keith Goganious. DeMatha will square off with McNamara at 2 p.m. Saturday.
