Game 7 Preview: O’Connell vs DeMatha

Coming off the biggest win of the season with a 21-0 shutout of Good Counsel, DeMatha Head Coach Elijah Brooks wants to be sure his team is focused on the next challenge. In the always-tough WCAC every opponent is capable of a win, and the Stags need to forget about last week and prepare for a solid Bishop O’Connell squad.

The Stags face a tough O’Connell team with playmakers on both sides of the ball, and will be looking for revenge after suffering a bad loss to the Stags last season.

For Brooks, the Stags must remain focused:

It is important for us not to have a let down this week. O’Connell played St. John’s very tough last week and we expect them to come out fired up for our game.

Shutting down the Knights run game will be crucial for the Stags to get a win, and the defense will lean heavily on the big guys up front and linebacker crew. Brooks knows the Knights offense can score:

KamrinMooreKamrin Moore is an explosive playmaker on offense and as a returner that we must contain. Santoni Graham is a physical linebacker that is relentless getting to the football.

For Brooks, the goal this week is no different than last week:

Our team is ultimately focused on going 1-0 this week against another league opponent.
